The producer of natural cosmetics and anthroposophical medicines, Weleda, has been present with a City Spa in Hamburg since the beginning of the year. The second spa in Germany is scheduled to open in Stuttgart in the summer. The Weleda brand should thus gain publicity.

Weleda opened its first City Spa in the Blankenese district of Hamburg in January. On 200 square metres of space, massages, facial and cosmetic treatments are offered according to a holistic concept.

A spa is now to follow in Stuttgart in the summer; Weleda also already has salons in the Dutch cities of The Hague, Rotterdam and Oegstgeest. “In addition to natural cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, Weleda is focusing on a new business segment with the City Spas, which will enable the Weleda brand to be experienced with all the senses and is inspired by Weleda’s vision of creating a world in which beauty and health are constantly recreated,” says project manager Rita Wirtz, defining the concept.

Uncertainties for 2020

Although Weleda AG can look back on a good financial year in its annual report with sales of 429.3 million euros, according to the company, sales in the first quarter of 2020 were also good in many countries. The growth driver is the Natural Cosmetics business sector, above all the Skin Food range. It is difficult to forecast the business year 2020, as it is difficult to estimate how big the economic downturn will be and how long a recovery will take. Weleda therefore expects a decline in sales.
