On behalf of Fruchthandel magazine, the German market research institute GfK Consumer Panels asked consumers which retail group made the best impression on them in the fruit and vegetable sector. The winner in the category “Organic products” is once again the Hessian company Tegut.
Around 9,000 households voted in autumn 2019, putting Tegut on the winners’ podium for the fifth time: The food retailer from Fulda receives the Retail Award 2020. Despite the compulsory mask, the joy (from left) of André Wagner (Purchasing/Category Manager Fruit), Thorsten Heil (Head of Purchasing Fruit and Vegetables) and Alexander Auth (Purchasing/Category Manager Vegetables) cannot be overlooked.
The customers were asked which retail group in terms of fruit and vegetables in their opinion has the freshest goods, runs the most attractive department and where the clarity is just as good as the cleanliness, the general presentation and the selection. And this applies to both trend products and convenience items. The survey also asked about satisfaction with the service and advice provided by the staff. Consumers were also asked to assess the price/performance ratio and their confidence in the retailers’ food safety.
“For food retailers, the Retail Award is one of the most important indicators of consumer sentiment, as the award winners are nominated directly by the customers, so to speak, through their evaluations,” says Thorsten Heil, divisional manager of fruit and vegetable purchasing at Tegut, evaluating the award. Edeka, Globus and Lidl received awards in the categories full-range grocery stores, hypermarkets and discount stores.
